contact salem:salemforphoto@gmail.comSalem’s performative work is a play on the magic role of the court jester, allowing the phantasmagorical qualities of the clown to unveil deeper questions about primordial waters and self becoming. Salem finds solace in the deep blue of cyanotype and considers the process of translation between emulsion and alternative processes an underlying metaphor for the nature of his performances.
Salem is currently attending the State University of New York at Buffalo for his Master of Fine Arts, and received his Bachelor of Fine Arts with a concentration in photography from East Carolina University in 2021. Salem was a part of multiple group exhibitions in 2023 [New York, South Dakota, Philadelphia] and will exhibit his MFA thesis work in April 2024 at Project 308 gallery in Tonawanda, New York.
