are you a vessel or a husk?
Polaroid black and white i-Type emulsion lifts and image transfers with DASS super sauce onto glass. 5 x 7”
At the start of this work I found myself interested in the alterations of memory that one can sometimes create with unexpected outcomes. If I was disappointed or excited, why? Regardless of the emotion, if a piece of the narrative changed, would that ease the memory into nonexistence? Why? Why not? If I imagine it in a hundred other scenarios that went down differently, would that calm the feeling of cathartic chaos, or rationalize what’s happening in the present? This work is an answer; constructed solutions pulled from multiple memories and perspectives.
A single plate of glass features a single image, block of thoughts, or color composition. Each piece is comprised of 3-5 plates. Rearranging, moving, and stacking the memories so that the new amalgamation can be looked through into the other side is integral to the work. These sets are encompassed in black-and-white frames to demonstrate the confinement created by irrational, black and white thinking.
